Hey everyone,
Here’s my build thread, if anyone is on the expedition Forum its going to be about the same thing.
So we picked up the Tree as a DD for the wife about 5 years ago. I think it had about 200k on it when we picked it up. Right now we are at 297xxx. So if anyone knows where to get the 300k stickers let me know.
Here it is stock without the running boards.
After this I went with he poor mans lift ( coil spacers at 2.5”), 2” wheel spacers and 4Runner wheels with 33” Toyo G2’s. I also built a custom drawer system in the back that works as a bed when the second row is folded down.
I installed a 1000w inverter and added a fire extinguisher
I also installed a hidden snorkel, this is the best picture I can get but I removed the factory piece that comes off the air box and ran 3” PVC out of the air box into the passenger fender area then took it up towards the windshield. This puts the wading depth about even with the door handles.
Added some LED lights because... its a requirement right?
ditched the 4Runner wheels and low pro G2’s for the stock wheels and some 305/70 Crosswinds M/T’s.
Santa came through big this year for me and dropped of a Badlands 12k winch. I went for the most “hidden set-up” I could. I would add more pics but could only add ten. I mocked up the mounting plate, marked for cuts, removed the bumper, cut and welded and bolted the plate to the bumper then installed the winch. Had to relocate the transmission cooler and do some trimming to the plastic bumper cover, and the trim piece below the hood. All in all it took me three days total for this install and there are quite a few small steps int here that I have skipped over.
The only spot I am really worried about is the factory bolts holding the bumper to the frame rails. There’s only four of them, I think I’m going to go get some angle iron and add L brackets at the top of the frame rails and bumper where they meet.
Here it is all put back together so I can have the garage back for the wife’s car and my Tundra.
Next up on the wish list re-gearing and lockers. If anyone could point me in the general direction of a good company to start pricing that out I would appreciate it. Also if you’ve re-geared what did you go with? I’m thinking high 4’s?
