Did a dual battery system with an automatic isolator a while back. Noticed that the house battery wast getting topped up with the single stage charging of the alternator.
After some research it became clear that the right way to do this is to add a DC/DC charger for proper charging of the house battery.
Picked TI a 40 amp DC/DC charger from Renogy, just finished the install yesterday.
