Hi there
I want to describe my history with Sequoia in this thread.

Well
I bought my Sequoia from Copart and import it to Poland.
Car was bought with clear title with mechanical damage.
When I took it from port and bring it to home Ive start to search what is with car.
It has some scratch on right side but this is not important, Ive tried to start engine, starter was working but engine didnt start.
Ive start to search problem.
Ive discovered that engine has broken timing belt ( was hiden on first look )
I bought new timing belt for test , engine started but with some noise .
Ive checked cylinder compresion , on two cylinders was 0, this means that something is wrong, probably valves.
I decided to take over cylinder heads, i found 4 exhaust valves broken.

Not so bad I think.

Few days after I look at the engine and found scratch on oil pump where timing belt pulley is mounted, I need to replace oil pump.
To replace oil pump you need to take over oil pans, to take off oil pans you need to remove engine from car.
So i did, now my enigne is on table , engine is painted and waiting for new parts.
Ive also cleaned some rust from frame in engine compartment and painted.
Below are pictures of my Sequoia from auction, later I will post some actuall pictures.

I hope its not boring but I will try to describe my full history of Sequoia.

I decided to import Sequoia from US cause it is rare model in EU and its very expensive.
It has also mechanical damage but I have some experience with cars , motorcycles and trucks so I decided to risk and rebuild it if necessary.
Copart is ok for me but Ive learned that if something is not on pictures , probably is not in car ( I dont have 3rd seats row) any other pictures was true and I received car in same condition.

Yeah Copart is great if you can get eyes on the vehicle. I didn't have eyes on and it stated that the car I bought had mech damage, but it ran and drove, so... I figured the clutch was about shot, or maybe the brakes were bad... had a dropped valve seat and torn up piston. Replaced, timed, washed, and drove for nearly a year before a lady pulled out in front of me and totalled it... :-(

Oh well, live and learn I guess. haha.

I can confirm that it is very hard to see a Sequoia in Europe. They are very expensive and usually with a questionable condition. Most people don't even know that such model exists (at best they have heard for Tundra or Tacoma). The only way is to import from US and pay multiple thousands for shipping/ duty and import taxes. Another huge disadvantage (at least in Germany) is that the official Toyota dealers are refusing to inspect, maintain or repair such models by saying "We are not selling these (US) cars". So you have not choice but to repair it on your own or look for alternative garages.

It is true that in Europe is problem with parts. Some of them can be found from Land Cruiser or Lexus but 4.7 engine is also rare and price for parts are huge.
I decided to also import engine parts from US, currently Im waiting for them.
I wish to complete engine till end of January but we will see ...

Some pics of my engine :

Broken exhaust valves on two cylinders ( one per cylinder head, so both has to be removed)

What is the round plastic thing on the top front of engine in the valley? Maybe an emissions thing. The 2001-2004 doesn't have that.
