Purchased in Nov. 2016 from single owner with 149k miles for $4500.00
My wife and sons quickly named her soccer mom, which started my obsession with doing research on making her a trail ready, family camping rig.

First I scraped the rust from the undercarriage and resealed with 3M rubberized undercoating.
Then I picked up the suspension

FRONT
Bilstein 5100 front adjustable shocks stock springs set at top notch for 2.5 lift

REAR
ARB OME 2862 Coils
Bilstein 33-187174 2in lift rear shock for FJ Cruiser

Stock wheels
285 75R16 BFG AT K02 Tires
Spidertrax 1.25 spacers

Next, I'm doing research on lighting.
Then maybe rims.

There's less expensive alternatives for sure, but I've been really pleased with Black Oak Led for lighting.
Truck is coming along great!
Thanks, I was looking at nilight on amazon, haven't pulled the trigger because they are priced so low, I question the durability and quality. I'll look up black oak. I'm thinking pods for the rear and a 20in bar tucked into the lower front bumper air valance.
I'm also looking at roof top tents and where to mount a pistol safe inside

I read on the Toyota Sequoia Off-Road FB page that fellow Sequoia owners are having a difficult time finding the right parts for lift so I thought I would list what I did for my lift after learning what I did from this helpful forum and from Paul Stoute and Reed Davis. Big shot out to you guys you helped me more than you know, and I appreciate it.

I'm running niilights on my Tacoma for ditch lights, work great. Nice floods. And if broken or stolen I'm not out big money. You can check out caliraised lights. They've got some good stuff.

Vin, thanks so much for this post and the links to the products for your lift! I just purchased an 04 and have been pulling my hair out trying to find parts to lift it.

Hi,

There is a youtube video on some kid having put bilstein 5100 from fj cruiser on a sequoia but now he is swapping them for old man emu shocks because he says that he is loosing 3 inches rear wheel drop when off-roading. Have you experienced anything bad with this fj setup. Why would you go with fj setup rather than sequoia, how did you make this decision.

THanks

I have not had any issues with my set up. I came to this decision mainly because of budget, parts available at the time and use. I do not do very technical off-roading. Mostly fire road type and for trips to Mammoth when snow is an issue.
If I could redo my set up, I IMG_20190808_161736~3.jpgwould probably go with the OME. Bilstein has a snapback that is jarring at times. Overall I'm satisfied with my set up.

Looking good. I went from 5100 to ome 60020L to currently fj cruiser rought country N3 rear shocks. My thoughts are 5100 price are mid range rides the best of the 2 but hated the jarring going over speed bumps. The ome cost higher of them 2 rides were too harsh for me but perfect for towing and heavy load and lastly the RC N3 was the cheapest and the ride were the softest not good for any heavy load or towing buy good for everyday driving cruising the HWY. There's bunch of other shocks like fox, icon and dobinsons but are pricey.

You should of told us this sh** in the beginning, about the jarring. Not a long time later. I have just restored my frame on my sequoia and now i bought them and im stuck with them. And now im hearing this nonsense about the jarring. But in the beginning u idiots were bragging about the: O MY GOD THEY ARE SO GOOD AND BLS BLA BLA. why did u not say this as soon as u got them. If u are getting tjst jarring noise then they are not good.
U guys are not worthy of these cars. Go get a minivan

? Do you think they are jarring? Suspension ride is relative. If you like it, enjoy it. Some people said the toytec suspension was stiff, I like it, no reason to go on a rant about it.

Like I say they ride great. My great is different than your great everybody's different. The loud thump only happen when going over speed bumps. There's a subject of this in this fourms. https://sequoia-forums.com/threads/...-with-ome-2862-land-cruiser-coil-springs.193/ The 5100 are not meant for lifted trucks maybe a inch but no more.

Do you have your front 5100's set on top notch and rear 2862 ome and 5100's fj cruiser rear shocks. Ye? Are you running 285 70 17?
It's ok I'll go ahead and try it for a while, se how it is. If you guys like it then I'm sure I won't mind it. I'm not an expert just enthusiastic about finishing this project.
Sorry for the rant. I was a bit upset. I'm over it now.

Yes front set at top notch. I replace the rear 5100 shocks to a longer shocks front Rought Country N3 for a Fj. I'm running 285/75/16 M/T. You'll be fine as long as you don't plow through speed bumps.

Soo.... You ever figure out that jarring problem?
