Yeah, I go back and forth. I am just at the point now that I'm looking at newer vehicles and blown away at the prices. It just doesn't make sense to me to plunk down a big down payment, then make payments on top of that for another four years for essentially the same vehicle (I would either get...
So we all love our Sequoias. Here is my question. Do we love them enough to keep them forever?
In other words, my vehicle has 210K and is currently running good.
When it finally dies, I can either replace it with a $40 -60K vehicle or replace the engine and transmission for about $10-15K and...
I have an 03. Manufacturer says not to change it. I have called around. Toyota dealer says they can flush it but said don't bother if it is shifting fine and looks/smells clean. Local trusted shop I use says to not flush an old transmission because it may do more damage than good. They basically...
My 03's gas gauge used to stick all the time. All positions. Sometimes it would stay low after a fill-up and come up real slowly as I drove. Very weird. I put a few tanks of fuel system cleaner in it and it helped a lot. It still sometimes sticks but not as often. I think its time for a new gauge.
196k. Only major thing was the break booster and master cylinder pressure switches. $800 bucks later, it runs great and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across the country.
Annoying minor issue ... drive shaft spline sticks occasionally causing a "thunk" after a hard stop.
Very good.
My brake warning light problem was intermittent too for a long time. At 185k it finally became constant so I had to take it in. Hopefully yours will stay fixed forever :)
My gas gauge issue seems to have been helped by two bottles of Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner.
Did you ever fix the problem?
I had the same issue with my 03 SR5. A local shop diagnosed it as bad pressure switches (both). Each switch being over $400. They replaced them both, but not the master cylinder. It fixed the problem.
I know that is not your question, but I thought I'd share my...
Update: My wife, who is an internet ninja, found my paint color. There is a company that sells the color I need in spray cans. Hopefully it matches.
The fuel sending unit issue may be helped by a couple of bottles of fuel system cleaner recommended in another forum.
I'll keep you posted...
Hi everyone,
Great site.
So two issues...one fairly minor and one not.
First the minor one. My 03 is showing wear and tear. I want to keep it a while so I decided to fix some of the cosmetic blemishes myself. I filled the dings and scrapes with body filler and got some of that dupli-color stuff...
