Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I have 2006 sequoia limited and I'm debating replacing the forward carrier needle bearing with their teflon coated bushing.

Has anyone installed one yet here on this forum?

I use mine primarily as a daily driver so I'm not looking to sacrifice drivability for stoutness of know week link in the drive drain.

Regards

I installed one on my 2005 Tundra, which is the same front diff as the Sequoia. I did it because I had a vibration while driving that I was trying to track down. It was terrible getting that thing installed. The whole process was insane.....on the videos it looks like it's easy and goes quickly, but my experience was anything but.

The bearing removal tool had to be ground down to actually fit behind the bearing, and getting the new bushing in was a nightmare. I tried freezing it overnight to no avail. In the end I had to use a bearing race driver and hammer as hard as I could for several hours. I got it in eventually. The vibration remained though....

That exactly the kind of information I'm looking for.

Were you able to track down your source of vibration?

I get a mid range harmonic vibration from the front diff when over 70, but without any vibration in the wheel.

I figured I had tracked it to this bearing.

If you look into the facebook group of first gen sequoia, Jim makes a tool to make the install easier.

I have not found the source of the vibe. New wheels, tires, suspension rebuild, etc have not solved it. Some things have helped....road force balanced the tires, balanced the driveshaft, etc. It's better than it was, but it's still there in the background.
