Yes, I believe it just unlatches and gives you the job of moving it up enough for the pistons to begin to actuate and take over. You don’t have to wait for the motor this way.
I have this issue from time to time. Not sure if its mechanical or if its computer related. It seems to happen more in colder weather though, which leads me to think its the motor or the little gearing or whatever is moving the mirror could use some new grease.
How did this work out for you? It seems to be a standard issue with the Sequoia. I think you need part#85241A. There is a pin that seizes up it seems. There is a write up about a makeshift fix on another forum but I want to go the route of swapping for new.
