I see people who say yup just a little cutting and others who say don't do it, there's a lot of noise out there on this. I have an '03 sequoia limited 4 wd and will be lifting it either with a toy tech Boss kit or with a tundra Icon stage 1 upfront and a scab together custom icon in the rear, haven't decided yet. Either way it's gonna be basically a 3" lift. I would bewailing to do a 1' spacer or body lift to get more clearance and I'm willing to cut if it doesn't compromise the trucks integrity. I don't want more than a 4" lift overall I'm trying to get the clearance of the 35"s with the lowest c.o.g. I can get. Has anyone done this and if so how did you do it, and how did it come out?

Thanks for the help!

I am interested in a decent answer for this question too. I do a lot of trail riding with a decent amount of small rocks and rough roads to head into back country. Airing down smooths out the ride significantly and having 35’s for more “squish” and more clearance would be ideal. I don’t mind cutting as long as it won’t make the rig look like a hack job.

I did it on my '01 4wd SR5. Freaking love it.

I have a 2.5" strut/spring spacer lift with LC rear springs, SPC UCAs, and Spidertrax 1.25" spacers. Pretty much the least expensive way to get 35s on it. There was a good bit of trimming and pounding, but nothing structural. I do have a tad bit of rubbing at full lock and stuffed. If Spidertrax made a 1.5" wheel spacer, I think that would completely fix this issue.

Using the SPC UCAs, you'll want to push the caster forward as much as possible (I believe it allows for 2° forward movement) - it'll allow for the least amount of cutting. Then, you need to trim the rear of the front fender well and, using a 5lb hammer, pound back the pinch weld behind it because that's the main place it'll rub. I also ended up trimming a little bit of the front inner plastic inside the front wheel wells because it would rub a little when turning in reverse.

Hope that helps!

overlandrich , try this guy on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/c/1stgenoffroad/videos, I am not sure on the 4 inch but he has loads of video help and sells all the gear to do the basic lifts to fit non rub wheels.

also, this guy does a lift that fits 35" tires, but it is on the same 1st gen but Tundra, basically same -

hope this helps with your project

Best
