does anyone have any experience with this type of bulb setup. Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me? Do they work well in our stock housing?

Haha! "...shed some light..." Very punny. I have purchased a set as I am attempting to go full LED on the Soy. However, I have not installed them yet. I will be installing them next week after I get my rig back from the body shop, before doing my dual battery mod. Wednesday or Thursday I will post some before and after shots. I bought a $50 set off Amazon. The picture of the lit bulb sitting in a glass of water sold me... I'm sure the picture was legit. ;)

A lot of the LED builds spit the bulb into two sides (one side for high beam, and one side for low beam). This is not ideal, as our housings are set up to deflect light all around, so when you're essentially outputting light on one side, you're actually losing light output even if the light itself is brighter, the output once it leaves the housing is reduced...

If you're looking for bulbs make sure they are round, and have rows of less vs splitting it up.

I have been running the OPT 7 kit for about 9 months now. Low beam died on one bulb and a replacement was sent pretty quick. They didn't even want the bad one returned. All handled via email in about 24 hours and 3 days for shipping. Good light pattern and very noticeable difference when compared to stock. It was an easy install, no regrets and I would do it again if my next vehicle had old school bulbs.

This is the link to the headlight bulbs I bought. They are super bright and a great deal for the price. Plug and play and everything is included. The downside is that in our housing they are not super directional like some in the actual projector housing, but you do get a lot of light in a wide spread. I have my 22'' bar on the front bumper and used it constantly to shed light because the OEM lights were so dim. With these LED bulbs on it is not very noticeable when I switch my led bar on.

I've had good results with everything I have used from TRS (TheRetrofitSource) - highly recommend them for all lighting upgrades.

Those are only 32.00 now! What a difference a little time makes. LED bulbs seem to becoming the norm

I just installed a $32ish set of LEDs from Amazon. They look great but my wife thinks the standard halogen low beams were brighter. I'm going to polish the lenses again and run them for awhile before switching back.
